Liverpool have continued their ambitious summer rebuild with the £40 million signing of Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, taking their total spending this transfer window to approximately £170 million.
Milos Kerkez, 21, who featured in every Premier League match for the Cherries last season, has penned a five-year contract at Anfield. His move follows an impressive 2024–2025 campaign in which he helped Bournemouth to a record 56 points in the English top flight.
Kerkez becomes the Reds’ third high-profile acquisition of the summer, joining attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz and right-back Jeremie Frimpong, both signed from Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool broke their club transfer record for Wirtz, paying an initial £100 million, with a further £16 million in potential add-ons, while Frimpong cost £29.5 million.
Young Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pecsi has also joined the Merseyside club for a fee of up to £1.5 million, and Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Valencia and Georgia shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili for £25 million plus £4 million in add-ons.
Speaking after completing his move, Kerkez said: “It’s a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, the biggest club in England. I’m just really, really happy and excited.
“After this, I’ll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can’t really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”
