The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yusuf Dingyadi, has officially stepped down from his position.
TIME.I.NG reports that Dingyadi’s resignation was confirmed in a letter dated June 25, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Acting National Chairman, Iliya Damagum. The letter was made available to journalists on Sunday.
While he did not disclose the reasons for his resignation, Dingyadi expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve the party during a critical phase in its history.
“While I appreciate the support and prayers of the PDP family during my stay in this office, I remain appreciative of all the contributions given to me to ensure the success of my assignment,” the letter read in part.
TIME.I.NG understands that Dingyadi had served as the voice of the PDP on major media platforms, often articulating the party’s stance during internal crises and national debates.
Widely respected for his media acumen, Dingyadi played a prominent role in stabilising the PDP’s image during turbulent political moments. He was a regular feature on radio, television, and print media, where he defended the party’s policies and clarified its positions on contentious issues.
His tenure saw coordinated messaging during high-stakes electioneering, including the 2023 presidential campaign of Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa.
With a media career spanning over two decades, Dingyadi previously worked with renowned outlets such as Reporter/Nasiha and BBC Hausa.
He has also had an extensive political communication portfolio, contributing to the campaigns of Obasanjo/Atiku (1999, 2003), Jonathan/Sambo (2011), and Atiku/Okowa (2023).
Additionally, he served in the media team of the late Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal, and was deeply involved in progressive political movements, including the People’s Front, Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Democratic People’s Party (DPP). He also supported the administration of former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.
