In a statement issued on Sunday, October 26, by Callistus Unyimadu, NRCs Chief Public Relations Officer, the corporation said the temporary suspension was necessary to carry out critical repairs, system checks, and maintenance on both the tracks and rolling stock, aimed at improving passenger safety, reliability, and comfort. The NRC confirmed that online bookings will reopen by 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 2025, two days before services resume. When operations resume, the train will operate with seven coaches, including six standard-class and one business-class coach. The new timetable, which will incorporate temporary speed restrictions (TSR) to ensure safe monitoring, will also be released on Monday. The corporation sincerely apologises to its esteemed passengers and stakeholders for the inconveniences experienced during the period of suspension and appreciates their patience and understanding, Unyimadu added.
