Egypt officially named their squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with head coach Hossam Hassan opting for a group heavily built around home-based talent.

As expected, the majority of the players come from Egypt’s top three clubs Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids forming a squad rich in familiarity and domestic chemistry.

One of the biggest talking points is the return of Emam Ashour, who re joins the national team for the first time in over a year after battling injury and regaining his form with Al Ahly.

Liverpool star, Mohamed Salah is also included, and as always, the hopes of an entire nation will rest on his shoulders as Egypt seek to reclaim African glory.

The Pharaohs will face Nigeria in a tune-up match on December 16, and Salah has reportedly left England following Saturday’s PL match to join up with the national team.

Egypt’s Head coach, Hossam Hassan is their all-time top scorer with 69 goals, and heads into this tournament carrying both experience and expectation.

Hassan is no stranger to African success he won the AFCON three times as a player in 1986, 1998, and 2006, the last of which he lifted as captain at 40 years old.

The 58 year-old is entrusted with leading Egypt to an eighth continental title, one that would finally end the 15-year AFCON drought since the legendary 2010 triumph.
