The Federal Government has declared December 25, 2025, December 26, 2025, and January 1, 2026, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations, respectively, according to a statement from Dr Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended warm Christmas and New Year wishes to Nigerians, urging Christians to reflect on values like love, peace, and humility, promoting unity and harmony.

The Minister called on Nigerians to pray for peace, security, and progress, supporting the government’s development efforts. He emphasized the festive season as an opportunity to strengthen unity and compassion.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also urged citizens to remain law-abiding and security-conscious, cooperating with agencies for a peaceful celebration.

The declaration aims to promote national cohesion and development.
