The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has extended his warmest congratulations to the Super Eagles for their outstanding achievement in securing the bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio praised the team’s exceptional performance against Egypt, saying it was a testament to their skills and determination. He commended the players for representing Nigeria with pride and showcasing the country’s talent and resilience on the international stage.
Akpabio urged the Super Eagles to celebrate their achievement with pride and use it as motivation to strive for even greater heights in their future endeavors. He noted that their victory is a source of inspiration to millions of Nigerians and expressed confidence in their continued success.
The Senate President’s congratulations come as the federal government and other Nigerian leaders also hailed the Super Eagles’ achievement, with President Bola Tinubu describing the bronze medal as feeling “good like gold.”
The Super Eagles secured their ninth AFCON bronze medal after defeating Egypt 4-2 in a penalty shootout, following a goalless draw in the third-place playoff.
