Stakeholders and the entire people of Ohuhu clan in Umuahia North LGA have endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, noting that the Governor has rewritten the story of Abia State for good.
Speaking during an enlarged solidarity visit of Ohuhu people numbering over 2000 to the Governor at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, the spokesperson of the delegation and member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal Constituency, Chief Obi Aguocha said that the visit was to thank Governor Otti for his long standing relationship with Ndi Ohuhu and all he has done for the Ohuhu people.
Chief Aguocha also thanked the Governor for considering a good number of Ohuhu Sons and Daughters for Federal and State appointments including Chief Victor Ikeji, as Federal Commissioner representing Abia in the Federal Character Commission, Mr Chinenye Mba-Uzoukwu as his Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer to the State, Agbonma Ukaobasi as his Ease of Doing Business point person, Ure Abazie as the DG, State Orientation Agency, Sir Chris Onwuegbu as Permanent Secretary among others.
He used the forum to draw the attention of the Governor to the State of Ohuhu ring road, the Okpara road traversing Amaogwugwu – Umuagu – Ofeme down to Isiukwuato and the need to put into proper use the Ulonna farm settlement established by the late Dr Michael Okpara.
In their speeches, some stakeholders including the pioneer Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, Chief Uzodinma Okpara, the member representing Umuahia North State Constituency, Bar. Anderson Akaliro thanked Governor Otti for transforming the Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia to a world class edifice and for turning around the Ohuhu Community Secondary school among other interventions across Umuahia and the entire State.
They used the forum to draw the attention of the Governor to the age long water problem facing the people of Ohuhu, and passionately requested for the resuscitation of the Ohuhu regional water scheme and the need to complete and functionalise the Ohuhu General Hospital built by Late Dr Michael Okpara at Umuegwu Okpuala.
Responding, the Governor, Dr Alex Otti while thanking the people of Ohuhu for the solidarity visit, support and endorsement, equally thanked Chief Onyema Ugochukwu and other stakeholders for their support.
On the Ohuhu regional water scheme, Governor Otti disclosed that the project has been provided for in the 2026 budget assuring that the Umuahia regional water scheme would soon be flagged-off for rehabilitation as the rehabilitation of Aba regional water scheme has reached 80% completion.
Governor Otti who announced that his plan is to bring Abia back to the old good days when people enjoyed pipe borne water in their various homes, promised to look into the Ohuhu General Hospital at Umuegwu Okpuala for the purpose of putting it into good use.
The Governor urged the stakeholders to persuade the people to participate in the voters registration exercise and ensure that their people have the voting power.
“And finally, I appeal that if there’s anybody within your influence that does not have a permanent voters card, please encourage them to go out and register.
“That is the only instrument that you can use to fight this war. Forget about the people that are making noise out there. It’s just noise,” Gov. Otti stated.
The solidarity visit was graced by stakeholders from across party divides, including Dr Aham Ụkọ. The Permanent Secretary – Ministry of Information, Sir Chris Onwuegbu, among others were part of the delegation, while the event featured prayers for the Governor, his family and government by the traditional Rulers of Ohuhu clans, who equally gave him gifts items.
The event was witnessed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba Ph.D, among other senior appointees of the Governor.
