A trained mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter severely beat an intruder who entered his sisters Florida home in the early hours of Saturday, September 27. The fighter, Henny Rojas, sprang into action to defend his teenage nephew after the suspect allegedly walked into the residence, later claiming it was a mistake following a night of drinking. Rojas was sleeping at his relative’s home in Wilton Manors, just north of Fort Lauderdale, when his teenage nephew frantically woke him up, reporting an intruder was in the living room, according to CBS12. The trained fighter immediately engaged the man, identified as Austin Carasani. Im prepared. Its not my first time; I dont feel pain. Nothing, Rojas told the outlet. I dont have guns; I wasnt looking for a knife just God and my hands, thats it. Rojas, who has been practicing MMA for roughly three years, utilized his skills to confront and subdue the 31-year-old intruder until police arrived to arrest him. Rojas sister, Patrizia, and her husband were away in Miami when they received the terrifying call from their son. He was screaming, Mom, call police, someone has broken into the house,’ Patrizia Rojas recalled.Just hours after being taken down by Rojas, Carasani appeared before a judge with visible welts and severe bruising covering his face. Carasani told police that he had been drinking at a nearby club and mistakenly entered the home while allegedly trying to reach a friends “Pauls house” in the area. Rojas and his family stated they had never seen Carasani before and did not know who he was when he broke in. The alleged home intruder has been charged with home invasion and remains in custody at the Broward County Jail as of Tuesday, with a bond set at $20,000. As for Rojas, he expressed satisfaction in being able to use his training to protect his family. Protect your family, Rojas said. There are a lot of crazy people [who] dont believe in God, who [are] only looking for damage.
