“Keeping Up With the Kardashians” to end in 2021; new Oscars diversity standards; “Tiger King” Joe Exotic asks President Trump for a pardon
It’s about to become a lot harder to “keep up with the Kardashians.”
Kim Kardashian has announced the end of an era, taking to Instagram Tuesday night telling fans that the iconic show would be coming to an end.
“Keeping Up With The Kardashians” premiered on E! News in 2007, and has produced 20 seasons for the network.
In the post, Kardashian thanked fans for their years of devotion and thanked everyone who contributed to the show for the last decade.
The abrupt news led to quick speculation from fans as to the nature of the show’s end, with many wondering if one specific family member wanted out.
Whatever the reason is, the final episodes of the landmark show will premiere on E! in 2021.
Major changes are coming to the Academy Awards.
The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences announced new diversity requirements that films must meet to be eligible in the best picture category.
According to The Academy, the new guidelines are being used to “better reflect the diversity of the movie-going audience.”
Sex, race, and physical disabilities are all things that will be taken into account when considering a film, and officials hope that the new requirements will help to make the awards ceremony more inclusive.
The new approach will take effect in 2024.
In a move that no one could have predicted, the “Tiger King” has asked President Donald Trump for a presidential pardon.
Joe Exotic has reportedly written a 257-page letter to the President, asking him to waive the typical five-year wait and to “be my hero, please.”
Exotic is currently in prison for a murder-for-hire plot against his longtime nemesis, Big Cat Rescue’s Carole Baskin, as well as 17 other crimes.
And “The Walking Dead” is officially ending its run.
The AMC show will conclude with a supersized final season- 24 total episodes- that will debut in 2022.
Fans did receive a little bit of good news, however, as creators are currently working on a spinoff starring fan-favorites Daryl and Carol.
No word yet on when that will premiere.
Overall, not a great day for fans of long-running TV shows.
