Gunmen have abducted two traditional rulers in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
The Imo State Police Command confirmed this to Channels Television on Sunday.
The traditional rulers are His Royal highness Acho Ndukwe, popularly known as Genesis of Amagu Ihube Autonomous Community and His Royal Highness Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube autonomous community.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mike Abatam, the gunmen invaded the palaces at about 12:00 am on Sunday, abducted the traditional rulers and set both palaces ablaze.
Abatam, however, noted that the command has commenced investigation into the matter and they are on the trail of the perpetrators with a view to rescueing the traditional rulers unhurt.
This new development is coming barely 48 hours after a traditional ruler in Atta autonomous community in Njaba Local Government Area of the state was abducted and murdered.
