The newly installed Caretaker Committee Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina State, Dr. Abdurrahman Usman, has vowed to reconcile all aggrieved party exco members recently dissolved by the PDP National Working Committee in the State.
He also promised to reposition and reset the party in the right direction in an effort to move it forward.
Usman made the promise shortly after the outgoing Chairman of the party, Hon. Lawal Danbaci, handed over the realm of office to him following directives from the National Working Committee of the party.
He explained during the inaugural meeting held at the party headquarters, in Katsina on Monday that the newly constituted committee is going to take off the party and will not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that the heart and soul of the party are set.

He maintained that his committee will do its very best to ensure that it leaves a very good track record, assuring all party members of equity, fairness, and justice to everyone.
According to him, some members of the party had before and during the just concluded 2023 general elections in the state chosen to work against the interest of the people and not for the interest of the party but for their personal and selfish reasons.
“I am here together with members as constituted by the National working committee of the PDP.
“We have had an inaugural meeting and we had consultations with various stakeholders and our candidates in the various constituencies where the elections will be taking place.
“Anti-party activities of some party members is the major reason that led to the constitution of this Committee.
“We will not leave any stone unturned. This is because the good people of Katsina State desire change. And we are committed to reconciling party members, repositioning and resetting the party to move it forward and constitute a new set of party leadership in the fullness of time.
“This is a responsibility saddled on our shoulders, not just by our leaders but also by God almighty because we are answerable to the creator for it.
“Part of the process we are adopting which is a continuous one that will span over the lifespan of this committee, we shall be going around from today to meet some of our critical stakeholders and leaders in the State.
“So, I am very proud of the committee members around me, I am optimistic they have all the capacity to deliver.
“However, I want to send a very loud and clear message to the INEC. Because we have heard of the rumours that some agencies of government and APC want to subvert the Electoral Law in terms of the procedure for the elections in which people will come and after being accredited with BVAS they asked to stay aside instead of allowing them to vote simultaneously as provided in the law,” he noted.

Earlier in his handover speech, the outgoing PDP Chairman in Katsina State, Hon. Lawal Danbaci, urged party members to cooperate with the new leadership and the committees set up by the National Working Committee in an effort to take the party to greater heights.
“The decision taken by the NWC is in the best interest of both the party and the good people of Katsina State which the Almighty Allah also appreciates it,” he added.
