Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, a rapper and singer known as Skales, has described his encounter with some Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials, who broke into his home around 4 am on Tuesday.
The rapper said the EFCC officers arrived at his residence armed with guns, sticks, and hammers, and forcefully broke down his back door while he was asleep.
He explained that the officers claimed they got intel that he was into fraud and that the invasion was a routine check.
Skales, who shared the details of this incident on X, said that one of the officers called him, threatening to implicate him in some wrongdoing, simply because he shared his ordeal on social media.

“Now one of them, whose name is Femi, called me, threatening that he could rope me into something because of my outburst on social media. An outburst caused by the unprofessional manner in which they gained entry into my home at 4 am, while I had my 6-month-old child & her mum sleeping,” he explained.
“I can never forget the look on my daughter’s face and how scared she looked.
“I am not a criminal. I have never don fraud in my life. You came in with guns to oppress me in front of my daughter and her mother & my staff. You will never prosper in anything you do as long as you’re EFCC staff! You will always be a failure.
“Why do you (EFCC) operate at night? Is armed robbery part of your job description? Because I need explanation. Truth is who [do] you want to report to because nothing works in this country! They only know how to abuse power.”
The singer further revealed on his X page that his neighbours were subjected to similar experiences.

As shown in the videos posted on the singer’s page, several armed individuals clad in the distinctive EFCC-branded uniforms stood guard within the compound while others conducted searches in the homes of the affected individuals.
In another video, four men were arranged in a single file with cuffed hands. Two officers guarded them from the front and the rear.
When FIJ called the phone number obtained on the singer’s X page, Kolawale Ajayi, Skales’ manager popularly called Kollertunz, said the men had come with sticks and guns, and that they had Jody, one of Skales’ signed artistes, in their custody.

When Ajayi connected Skales to the call, the singer told FIJ that he did not have access to his phone. “But I will upload video evidence on my page,” he told FIJ.
FIJ contacted the EFCC via one of the phone numbers obtained on its website, but the call was not answered. Also, a text was sent to the commission but no response had been received at press time.
Similarly, Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, could not be reached for comments, as he neither answered his calls nor responded to the message sent to him. The PUNCH, however, reported that Oyewale denied the invasion and stated that EFCC officials do not operate that way.
