In a bid to ensure the re-election of Governor Charles Chukuma Soludo of Anambra State for a second term in office, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Idemili North Local Government Area Campaign Council inaugurated twelve sub-committees ahead of the November 8th governorship election.
The APGA Idemili North Campaign Chairman, Chief Obi Idemobi, said the committees include Strategy, Grassroots Mobilisation, Media and Publicity, Youth Mobilisation, and Women Mobilisation.
Idemobi urged the committee leaders to work together for the collective goal of delivering their wards for Governor Soludo, who they said is the people’s choice. “If we deliver our respective wards, we will win the election and will receive prizes for doing that,” he said.
Consequently, the Mayor of Idemili North, Chief Stanley Nkwoka, stated that APGA’s victory is inevitable, citing Soludo’s record of achievements. He cautioned members against negligence, saying those unwilling to work should step aside. “This election is as good as won. But no matter how beautiful our product is, we will still advertise it,” he said.
Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, emphasised that Idemili North must overcome its history of low voter turnout despite high registration figures, and projected the council would deliver at least 100,000 votes. Similarly, former Commissioner for Information, Dr. Tony Onyima, predicted that Idemili North would play a decisive role in determining the election outcome.
APGA State Chairman, Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, urged teamwork, stressing that the party recognises all members equally, regardless of when they joined.
The event concluded with the oath-taking ceremony for the newly appointed sub-committee chairmen and was attended by several APGA leaders, including the Commissioner for Works Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, former Idemili North Chairman Chief Aisha Nnabuife, former lawmaker Hon. Tony “Oneweek” Muonagor, Deputy Mayor Lady Phina Onwuachu, and Chief Chuksbrown Igboanua.
Similarly, in a solidarity move, 60 support groups, comprising 120 members under the aegis of All Soludo Support Groups (ASSG), have endorsed Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election bid.
To demonstrate their support, the groups presented Governor Soludo with N30 million for his re-election campaign at the International Convention Centre, Awka.
This development comes on the heels of a similar endorsement by Anambra State students, who donated N2 million for Soludo’s re-election. This is coupled with the activities of a grassroots support group, called the ‘Soludo Vanguard’, who also supports the governor’s re-election campaign.
