The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja has officially announced its annual Christmas and New Year vacation schedule, providing a brief hiatus for judicial officers and staff amid the festive season.
In a circular dated December 2, 2025, and referenced as FCT/JD/CJ.185/11/95, Hon. The court will observe the break from Monday, December 22, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026.
Full sittings are scheduled to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The announcement, addressed to all Hon. Judges of the High Court, underscores the court’s commitment to tradition while ensuring continuity in justice administration post-holiday.
In a warm closing note, Justice Yusuf extended festive greetings to his colleagues and the entire staff: “I wish Your Lordships and the entire staff of the FCT High Court a very happy, peaceful, and highly fulfilled Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.”

This vacation aligns with similar observances across Nigeria’s judicial arms, allowing personnel to recharge during the yuletide celebrations. Litigants and legal practitioners are advised to plan accordingly, noting that urgent matters may still be handled through designated vacation judges, as per standard protocols.
