The Oyo state Police Command has intercepted a truck load of suspected explosives in the Saki area of Oyo state.
The suspected explosives were intercepted on Sunday during a stop-and-search operation in the Oke Ogun axis of the state.

The Police spokesman, DSP Olayinka Alayande, who issued a press statement to this effected noted that the feat was achieved through a well coordinated intelligence led operation with an arrest of the truck driver made in the process.
“The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of an operational success recorded by the Command following an intelligence-led operation.
Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Command intercepted a truck conveying materials suspected to be explosive devices during a stop-and-search operation in Saki, Oyo State.
“The truck and the suspected materials were promptly secured and are currently in police custody,” Alayande said.
It noted further that the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, “immediately ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter with immediate deployment of specialised personnel of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit to safely secure the items for safekeeping and forensic examination”.

Alayande added that detailed forensic analysis has since commenced, alongside a thorough and robust investigation to determine the exact nature of the items and their intended use.
The PPRO disclosed that the driver of the truck has been taken into custody and is cooperating fully with investigators as efforts continue to unravel all circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Commissioner of Police reassured members of the public that the Nigeria Police Force remains fully committed to the protection of lives and property.
He also enjoined them to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses.
National Park Attack
The latest discovery came three weeks after gunmen killed some forest guards at the Old Oyo National Park in Oloka, Orire Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who visited the area and commiserated with the people of the community and the affected families, assured residents of the state that his administration would redouble its efforts to strengthen the security architecture of the state and make living in the community easy for them.
He also said that he would write a letter to the military authorities in Abuja, requesting the establishment of a military base in Oloka to further strengthen security in the community.
The governor, however, said that the issue of security is a collective responsibility and not the business of government alone.
He, therefore, urged the residents of the state to always tip off the government and the security agencies when they notice any suspicious activity in their communities.
