Johnvents Group, a multinational agribusiness and manufacturing company, has revealed that it has screened more than 50,000 farms to identify and manage deforestation risks as part of efforts to meet increasingly stringent international market requirements.
Founder and Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. John Alamu, disclosed that it has intensified implementation of its 150,000 Cocoa Farmers Empowerment Programme while expanding farm-to-warehouse traceability systems to ensure compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and Rainforest Alliance certification standards.
The company revealed that it established its first greenhouse gas inventory in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, strengthened climate governance, enhanced deforestation risk management and advanced implementation of its Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP).
The company further said it had reinforced its corporate governance framework through board-level oversight and specialised units responsible for sourcing sustainable finance, carbon management, regulatory compliance, occupational health and safety.
Group Executive Director, Mr. Tarun Chawla, said sustainability has become an essential driver of business resilience and long-term growth.
According to Chawla, “sustainability is now central to business performance and long-term value creation. The progress we have made in strengthening our sustainability systems reaffirm our commitment to responsible operations and shared value for our stakeholders.”
