The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate extension of the ongoing Arterial Road S1 project in Kaura District to connect with Arterial Road S20 (Oladipo Diya Way), saying the move will improve connectivity and accelerate development in the area.
Wike gave the directive on Friday while inspecting the 2.4-kilometre road project, which is expected to be completed by December.
He said extending the road beyond the three-span bridge currently under construction would maximise the project’s impact by opening up more parts of the district and improving access.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace of work, noting that the bridge component had been completed.

He assured that the FCT Administration would continue to release funds promptly to enable the contractor meet the project’s completion deadline.
According to Wike, the road will not only ease traffic movement but also stimulate economic activities, attract real estate investments and transform the landscape of Kaura District.
He noted that improved road infrastructure often encourages private developers to invest, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.
He expressed confidence that the contractor would deliver the project as scheduled, stressing that the FCT Administration remains committed to completing all ongoing infrastructure projects across the nation’s capital.

The Arterial Road S1 project, which was flagged off in September 2025, links the Fire Service Station in Kaura District to Ring Road II.
The project is expected to improve emergency response and support the continued expansion of Abuja’s road network.
