Veteran Afrobeat musician Keji Hamilton has released a new single titled Agbaya People, marking a fresh chapter in a career that spans decades and continents.
Hamilton, who gained prominence as a guitarist with the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s Egypt 80 band, spent more than ten years touring internationally and performing Afrobeat music across the United States, Europe and other parts of the world.
The multi-instrumentalist, known for his proficiency on lead guitar, bass guitar, piano, congas and alto saxophone, brings his extensive experience and deep roots in traditional Afrobeat to the new release.
Released under HIS Media Empire, Agbaya People blends rhythm, humour and social commentary, drawing attention to everyday societal issues while maintaining the infectious groove that has long defined the Afrobeat genre.
According to Hamilton, the song reflects common realities and encourages listeners to examine the choices and behaviours that influence society, while offering an entertaining musical experience.
The release also highlights Hamilton’s enduring connection to the Afrobeat tradition popularised by Fela, while demonstrating his ability to adapt the genre’s message to contemporary audiences.
With Agbaya People, Hamilton continues to build on a legacy forged on global stages, reaffirming the relevance of Afrobeat as both a cultural expression and a vehicle for social reflection.
