Lagos Okada Ban By Idowu Charles Oboro

The Mosque in Lekki under the acronym LEMU distributed zakat worth N37m recently and it made news. The dominant items were Tricycle and Okada.

This is synergy with the Okada riders unleashed from the troubled North West and the North East.

The ban of this mischief it appears has not angered the riders themselves but those whose motif are more sinister than honorable.

Also, every miscreant in the barracks is a part time Okada rider; so unruly that with a service face cap; they have every right to violate anything that relate to good conscience.

Then talk about robbers and bag snatchers on Okada like Knights in disdained Armors. They wait near ATMs and Banks to unleash their mayhem.

Then the menace in traffic! They never obey traffic lights; they run against traffic and task our medical facilities with the recklessness they generate.

So who really use them? People who cannot plan and therefore desire an unintelligent means of transportation. After the inglorious Marwa from the North East permitted it in Lagos, it increased the slum value of Lagos and no meaningful change can occur in the Mega City plan with such a repugnant means of commuting.

Imagine Okada in London and Dubai? If it is strange, why should it not be strange too in Lagos?

Then you shamelessly run commentary on the benefit of Okada? The same industry run by Chinese and Indians who don’t mean well for your country.

The campuses are sensible enough to ban the use of Okada as shuttles. The children are coping very well and you now corrupt their mentality out of school to begin to act like Agberos in everything they do.

An average Okada passenger is aggressive. If anyone on Okada bangs your car in motion it is most unlikely that it is the rider, but the passenger.

Then the cultist menace in Lagos. The Okada business is the major source of funds for all the cult groups. It won’t therefore be surprising to see that the demonstration rocking Lagos are by the hemp smoking and killer cult groups who see the underworld revenue of its spheres of influence dwindling by the ban.

So the Boko Haram Mallams; Cult groups; Prostitutes and Runs Girls; Idle Soldiers and Policemen are the combination of people who have been hit by this policy.

The benefits are multiple like Saner traffic; less deaths; less amputees; less miscreants; less robberies; fitter population; less stress for our security architecture; less pollution from fuel and engine oil mix for single stroke engines; more apprenticeship for more productive and enterprising skills…the tally is endless.
