The ‘God of War’ Deiveson Figueiredo will fight to defend the flyweight title against contender Brandon Moreno
Both fighters have a successful string of victories coming into UFC 256 and have defeated their last opponents in UFC 255 in the first round
Moreno has a good chance of going the distance against Figueiredo who historically defeats opponents within 2 rounds
The UFC 256 is getting underway this Saturday with the Main Card fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno drawing all the attention. Both fighters had a three-week break, after their triumph in UFC 255 with each fighter delivering a quick Round 1 victory in November.
Yet, now they have the flyweight title to sort out and this will mean mustering up everything they have got. Both have shown promise and for one of them, Saturday night will be a stepping-point in their career. Figueiredo is (-300) heavy favorite against Moreno (+250).

Deiveson Figueiredo at a Glance
Known by his moniker, God of War, Deiveson Figueiredo has had a clean career in fighting. His current record stands at 20-1 and he has gone undefeated in his last five bouts, taking on respectable opponents, including A. Perez whom he defeated on November 22 in UFC 255 with a quick submission.
Before that Figueiredo fought in March and July, defeating J. Benavidez by KO/TKO and submission respectively. His previous bouts took place in October and July 2019 when he fought T. Elliott and A. Pantoja respectively, to win in both fights.
Figueiredo has a powerful punch and stopping power, combined with his ability to get on top of opponents and force submissions. Moreover, his performance has been unflagging and he is not likely to be stopped by Moreno, who has had a fairly flawless career himself.
Deiveson is also looking at the Fighter of the Year Award should he win once again on Saturday, and this is only another distinction he would not mind laying claim on.
Moreno Shows Promise
Brandon Moreno has had a few slips there, but none of late. The fighter is looking at a solid 4-0 run in his last five fights with one split draw against A. Askarov he faced back in September 2019. So, how much promise does Moreno show?
Well, he managed to finish B. Royval in UFC 255 in the first round to the surprise of the crowd, and before that, he had a victorious run against J. Formiga in March. His last fight before that was against K. Kara-France whom he defeated in December 2019.
The last time Moreno lost was in 2018 when he faced off with Alexandre Pantoja with the referees deciding against him. A year before that, he had the same bad turn of events against Sergio Pettis.
If there is one thing that puts Moreno at an advantage, that is his overall stamina and endurance in the octagon. The fighter averages 3 rounds and can go the distance successfully.
On the flip side, you have Figueiredo who seems to average 1.5 rounds, mostly because he brings his fights to a quick unapologetic finish. The UFC 256 showdown is going to be one worth your while. Don’t miss out.
