Aero Contractors continues to hold on to the sum of N114,500 belonging to Mary Thompson, one of its customers, who failed to travel with the airline after buying a ticket 19 months ago.

The Abuja-based civil servant told FIJ that she had booked an Abuja-Port Harcourt return ticket worth N114,544 with the airline in December 2021.

“In December 2021, I bought an Abuja-Port Harcourt return ticket from Aero Contractors,” Thompson said.

“Unfortunately, the event I was supposed to attend was postponed until August 2022. I then requested that the ticket be left open for me by the airline.

“When I eventually wanted to make use of the ticket in August 2022, Aero contractors had been placed on temporary suspension. The suspension lasted many months.

“In the end, I was forced to fly with another airline so I could attend the programme.”

Thompson said she subsequently sent a mail to Aero Contractors in December 2022 to demand for a refund.

“After I sent the mail, one of the airline’s officials sent me a refund form to fill. I instantly filled the form with all other requirements she requested for and sent it back to her,” said Thompson.

“She also promised me that a refund would be made within 14 days.

“When the 14-day refund time frame they promised elapsed, I sent another mail to them, but this time, I was told refunds had been put on hold till 2023.”

Thompson said she sent two additional emails in February but never got any response from the airline.

“Nothing has been done. Aero Contractors did not even respond to my emails again. My refund is still hanging. I don’t know why these airlines like to behave this way,” she said.

FIJ emailed Aero Contractor’s customer service desk for comments on the matter on June 1, but it had not been responded to at press time.
