The Kebbi State Police Command has warned against any acts of destruction or looting of critical infrastructure during the planned protests.

This warning is contained in a statement issued by the Kebbi State Command Public Relations Officer Nafiu Abubakar.

According to the statement, in a proactive measure to ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the upcoming nationwide protests, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command Bello Sani convened a meeting with heads of other security agencies and key stakeholders at the state headquarters.

Stakeholders included traditional and religious leaders, youth representatives, the National Orientation Agency, PCRC, Miyatti Allah, (the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) Okada riders, and the Kebbi Central Market Association.

The command noted that the meeting aimed to discuss strategies to maintain peace and prevent any breakdown of law and order during the protests.

In his address, Kebbi State Commissioner of Police Bello Sani stressed the necessity of brainstorming and developing effective solutions to ensure public safety.

He acknowledged the constitutional right of Nigerians to protest peacefully but warned against any acts of destruction or looting of critical infrastructure.

The statement added that the heads of security agencies in Kebbi State called on protest organizers to provide information on proposed routes and assembly points, the expected duration of the protest, names, and leaders’ contact details, and measures to prevent hijacking by criminal elements.

Protesters were urged to cooperate with the police and other security agencies, adhere to the law, and follow international standards for peaceful assembly to ensure their rights are exercised safely and without incident.
