SEASON 24/25…LET THE GAMES BEGIN…

Good day folks, you may have read some news about Mikel Arteta hiring some professional pick-pockets to mix with the Arsenal squad at a recent dinner party. At the end of it all, many of the players had lost one or more items to the pros, though these were later returned to the owners as the prank was revealed.

The idea behind Arteta’s unorthodox approach was to teach his players the need to be alert, aware and “in-the-moment” at all times. “Don’t dull”, as they say on our streets, “you snooze, you lose”, you have to be on top of your game 24/7. The margins for winning and winners getting tighter and slimmer by the day.

So with all that and more in our minds, as I make this rallying cry to our brave, courageous and valiant warriors on the eve of kicking off the 2024/25 EPL season. As we get ready to go again, with an opening day home game against Wolves on Saturday.

I bring you good tidings, the unconditional love and unflinching support of the 4,546,345,677 Arsenal fans worldwide. They say “thank you” to you all, for your bravery, commitment and performance last season.

This 20/25 season is the “ALL OR NOTHING” season. We have made steady progress over the years, WE MUST NOW HAVE SUCCESS. You the players, management and over 4 billion fans worldwide are in sync, on the same page, on this – we want to/must win the EPL

, the UCL

,and our FA cup. The treble gentlemen, that’s what we must do.

To win the EPL

, we must have 114 points on the log on the last day of the season.

To win the UCL

, we must win ALL our matches from Match day 1 to the Finals.

To win our FA cup, we must also win ALL our fixtures from Match day 1 to the Finals at Wembley.

Our beloved gladiators, the task and targets are clear, unambiguous with no equivocation. We know what we have to do and how to do it. You all, more than any other group, know how excruciatingly close we were to our target last season.

We have strengthened the squad by the addition of Messrs David Raya (permanently), Riccardo Calafiori, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, the talented young duo from our academy. We may add Mikel Merino and someone else before the league starts or before the transfer window closes officially.

We will also have more departures either permanently or on-loan as we go on. You all know how things play out in this game. Our strength gentlemen, is derived more from what we have been able to retain and incorporate rather than what we add and subtract. Our love and support for, respect for and commitment to each other, our ability to harmonize our thoughts, deeds and goals, on and off the pitch, all pulling in the same direction,as one. That’s the core and spine of our team.

Gentlemen, they say, every silver medalist is unhappy because they rue the loss of the gold medal and so are we, so we must remain, hungry and ready to do more, be more, until we achieve our set targets.

We must never be satisfied with coming second, now that we know, they know, that we are very capable of winning the league if not for the “financially-doped, 115-charges Cheatyzens FC of Manchester” and a conniving PL management. They are afraid but we will not be deterred or denied. Our time is now.

We will compete on the pitch, off the pitch, in the print and electronic media, in the pubs and lounges, in the boardrooms, in the hills and lowlands, anywhere and everywhere, we will be everywhere flying our flag, defending the Arsenal cause, with our blood, sweat and whatever it takes. We will never back down or give up, never.

These we will do with honour, integrity and dignity, because we are not like them who do it the wrong way. We refuse to be the “Lance Armstrong of football”. No one will snigger at and denigrate our victory when it comes, they can/will only be jealous and envious.

WE ARE THE ARSENAL……and WE WILL WIN….with HONOUR and DIGNITY.
