As preparations for the 2027 governorship race gather momentum, an aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun, has unveiled an economic recovery blueprint aimed at transforming Benue State through job creation, trade expansion, infrastructure development, and strategic investments.

Kuraun presented the plan, titled “Vision Direction,” in Abuja on Thursday, describing it as a roadmap for repositioning Benue’s economy and improving living standards across the state.

According to him, the manifesto prioritises economic growth through the development of local industries, expansion of agricultural value chains, and investments in critical infrastructure.

He said youth empowerment would be central to his administration, with plans to create jobs through enterprise development, skills acquisition, and targeted support for small businesses.

“Our focus is to build a productive economy that creates opportunities for young people and improves quality of life across Benue State,” Kuraun said.

On infrastructure, the APC aspirant pledged major investments in roads, rural connectivity, and public utilities to stimulate economic activities and improve access to markets.

“No economy can grow without good roads and access to markets. We will invest heavily in infrastructure to unlock the state’s full economic potential,” he stated.

Kuraun also promised to promote free trade initiatives aimed at opening Benue to regional and international markets, while maintaining prudent debt management practices.

“We must manage resources responsibly. Every kobo borrowed must be tied to measurable outcomes that directly benefit the people,” he said.

As part of efforts to strengthen the private sector, he pledged policies that would support small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), attract investors, and create a more business-friendly environment.

He added that innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship would be key pillars of his administration, noting that the state must embrace modern economic strategies to remain competitive.

“Our vision is to build a prosperous Benue where innovation thrives, businesses grow, and citizens have access to sustainable economic opportunities,” he added.

Kuraun said the Vision Direction manifesto is designed to drive long-term economic transformation, inclusive governance, and broad-based prosperity for the people of Benue State.
